default index file for ssl

Can someone tell me how to set the default index.htm or shtml file for ssl. I have ssl running fine, but if I type in the the site address as https://www.mydomain.org I get the Apache defalt page and not my index.htm.

Any ideas on how to change this?

Thanks,
Tony

Please provide more info, what kind of version of apache do you use? An example for apache2, check the config file in:

/etc/apache2/conf/modules.d/41_mod_ssl.default-vhost.conf

Make sure that the path is correct (something like: "DocumentRoot "/home/httpd/htdocs/myhttps-part/")

b.t.w. does it read your index.html by typing: https://www.mydomain.org or does it also read the apache default index.html ? If that's the case, check the: /etc/apache2/conf/commonapache2.conf and search for the line like:

<IfModule mod_dir.c>
DirectoryIndex index.html index.html.var index.php index.php3 index.shtml index.cgi index.pl index.htm Defau
lt.htm default.htm
</IfModule>

Hope this helps,

I worked it out. I edited the sll.conf to read default as /var/www/shtml and I place an index.htm file in there and it now reads it.
