default gateway
 
Hi

I have centos 5.3 installed i have 2 network interface eth0 connected to local lan and eth1 to isp line when i make command as route add default gw 172.16.1.19 eth0 then this default gateway is added but after some it automatically disappers .

is your computer using DHCP, so that the network interface gets reconfigured by the DHCP server from time to time?

Are you running/using network mangler, errrh, manager?

Your computer is not taking IP from DHCP, means you have to make static route. You're not using any network manager. So, you have to add a static route. Static route configuration is stored in a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-interface file, whereas interface is like eth0, eth1, etc.
And to add a static route you can take reference from here.
