Question Default email client

I'm a newbie, and am running Redhat 9 on my laptop. I am using Mozilla 1.4, and Ximian Evolution (the version that is included with the distro).

When I click an e-mail link (mailto:yadayadayada) on a web page, I get nowhere. How do I make Evolution my default mail client, and have it open a new mail window when I click a mailto: link?

On a related note, is there another application similar to MS LookOut for Linux, or is Evolution the one I want to be using, since I like the layout and functionality of LookOut? So far I like Evolution, but there are a few things I would like to change (and I'm not a programmer -- YET).

Thanks,

Rich

Not as far as I know..........

Apparently there is a workaround if you use Mozilla with MacOS or M$Windows. But not with Linux.

Have a look at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11459 where this is a known problem.

My solution:

Switch to using Konqueror as your default browser (you can change the default email app that clicking on a "mailto" link in Konqueror opens to Evolution by putting the following in the K Control Centre in the "Preferred Email Client" box:

evolution: mailto"%s"

- assuming you use KDE of course).

Having said all that, I did find a suggestion is made in this message on another forum:

http://www.mail-archive.com/evolutio.../msg03662.html

....I don't have a clue if that works.

Good luck.
