Deconf
 

hello from a newbie folks, (got sick of windows attacks) i have installed ubuntu 11.04 and now at start up when i try to add software, or change any settings, the deconf locks me out of authorization field, then i cannot close any apps, or even power off the pc .. other than reaching behind and flipping power switch on back. am i under attack or what?, i connect to wireless to neighbors connection,its a open connection. i installed fireshield but all of a sudden it suddenly disabled. im amazed i got this far, but it dont stop at very startup, only after i try to do changes a key appears on the top bar by connection icon. can anybody explain this please. im disabled and and can only focus a short time b4 it all changes thank you

You mean 'debconf'? http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...debconf.7.html . This is a thing for installing programs.

A way of avoiding it might be 'sudo apt-get install packageName'. At a terminal.
