debootstrap not working on etch amd64?

Can anyone tell me why this do not work?
debootstrap -arch i386 sid /var/sid-386-chroot
I get no errors or anything... I't acts like everything is ok but this should take a little longer than 0.2sec and It should download something...

If I remember correctly, I read something recently about a bug in debootstrap, or perhaps the installer in the cd/dvd image. There is a fix/patch released to repair the problem. I apologize that I don't remember the specifics of the matter.

A search of the Debian distro page at LQ would help.

I did it again this morning and it worked fine, I did'nt upgrade or patch or anything... very odd...
