[SOLVED] Debian Winscp connection refused

Problem Solved


i installed debian. and i have another problem now. i need to connect for file transfers to linux machine from windows machine. donwloaded winscp for it. when i tried to connect i get this error message

connection refused

i think firewall settings are wrong but dunno how i can stop firewall thing. there are many firewall type on debian.

can someone help me pls ? =)

Normally 'sshd' does not run. Check that it is configured correctly and set up to run. You may try:

dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server

Or else just go straight to /etc/ssh/ and edit the server config file and also delete the file "sshd_not_to_be_run", then check that the sshd startup script is invoked as you expect for your runlevel.

You probably have no sshd running (the process that sits and listens for attempts to establish an ssh connection) - or it is not even installed.
...probably the former.
I don't know how to start this (or any service ... ) in Debian now but it should be easy to find out.

Hey again.

dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server

good job. i gave this command and i saw openssh is not installed ^^

as a root :

apt-get install ssh

and configured openssh settings as u said

and now winscp working fine
