Debian - upgrade to unstable - turn off GDM?
Installed Woody (3rd time was the charm!), wanted to update everything and run SID
When I apt-get - dist-upgrade it downloads the poackages, starts the install and then I get a message saying I should turn off GDM before I continue how do I turn off GDM? Will the upgrade restart? SHould I turn off gdm then apt-get SID? thanks guys -Sean |
If I remember correctly there's a command to stop it from respawning (soomething like gdm-stop)
or just change to another runlevel that doesn't have X, say "init 3" or even "init 1" if you've already fetched all the packages. |
