Debian Squeeze Eee PC 701 CLI system - auto loading USB drives.
I have a Debian Squeeze cli system installed on an Eee PC 701 (2 GB SSD), which I would like to connect to an external USB hard disk (with music files on it) and connect the Eee to a stereo system. I need an easy to understand, simple solution for getting Squeeze to automatically mount the USB hard disk (and any USB pen drives that I would like to attach) automatically.
I have read a fair amount about this issue and am aware of /etc/fstab, that HAL is being phased out, about usbmount etc. but am swamped with information without a simple, concise howto in sight. |
This is from Debian wiki might provide a good start.

I'm running LDME which is supposed to be based on Squeeze and have no problems with USB. I also just installed this and chose the UUID option but do not have the files mentioned in the part about 'Alternatively, use autofs with UUID', so there may be differences. |
