Hi and welcome to LinuxQuestions!
Sid is the
Unstable Debian distribution from which packages drop down to
Testing (currently called "Sarge") as they mature and finally make their way into
Stable (currently "Woody"). Having problems with Sid is expected - it's what it's there for - to try out stuff and make sure it works (and if it doesn't - fix it).
You should probably look into getting Sarge or Woody. You can easily install the stable release and upgrade to Testing/Sarge when the system is up and running.
