Debian shows my monitor as "Not Supported"
 

I am running an AMD processor, I have a 300GB Hard Drive and an 80GB hard drive. I have Ubuntu running on the 80Gb, I had windows on the 300, It would not allow me to partition it so I have now taken windows off and I am trying to Install Debian. The instillation was fine until I rebooted and the monitor is shown as not supported. Can anyone help, how do I get the monitor supported

please type the error message more completely it might just be something f-ed up with the config


type: dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg as root or sudo

I have rebooted debian and now get a rectangular box moving around the screen with "input not supported" I am sorry I do not know which directory to change to in order to type the instruction you suggested. At the command prompt on boot up it shows grub as the directory

wtf??? ive never heard of an error like that before i think if you press ctrl+alt+backspace it takes you to command prompt

that's the monitor saying that it doesn't support the resolution + refresh rate that is trying to be used.

Boot into single user mode and do the dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg command. There, to be safe start with only selecting 640x480 and 60Hz, when given the choice.
