debian, ndiswrapper, install. how to
i installed debian on a dell d600 laptop - the nic and internal wireless card are bad - so i use a pcmcia card Netgear MA521 which debian does not recognize. i saw some forum on making some changes to the driver source code and recompiling it - however a friend suggested that i go to this site http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...itle=Main_Page
and just install the ndiswrapper. i just transfered over from windows - in windows you can install the program from any directory by a mouse click. linux does not seem that way. since i can't hook up to internet, i plan to download the wrapper to my windows machine, put the file on to a usb stick and then transfer it to my linux machine. question is - what file should i put ndiswrapper it in? how do i install the nidswrapper - there is a comprehensive how to on : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...er/Ndiswrapper but the basic 'how to install applications page' is currently down: https://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/ch02.html i guess what i am looking for is a basic how to on how to install applications in debian. i am installing: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...=Netgear_MA521 |
