debian live file transfer only one usb port

Right now I'm trying to install debian 9 on my rca cambio w101sa23t2 tablet pc has intel atomTm processor z8350 - I made a live usb using dd and it boots to live env no problem but can't detect any network hardware which causes installation to fail - I am trying to use lspci and lshw as I was instructed by another user trying to help me solve this but I get error command not found. I downloaded packages for these and can use either my android or another usb stick to transfer the files but have only one usb port. So would removing the live usb result in system failure or is there a way to get access to that port while still in the live environment?

Hi,

if you're having trouble because you need non-free drivers/binaries at install time I suggest you try one of the unofficial images that that includes all that stuff. See
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/

If you really need more than one USB port you can probably use a USB hub.

HTH,

Evo2.

are you using a debian install dvd or debian live?
you may be able to use a nonfree firmware install dvd?

also no optical drive it's a kinda low end pc/tablet so limited features I guess
evo2 the non free has many realtek drivers but apparently not the specific one I think I need. I candownload a .deb file for the appropriate realtek firmware pkg but don't know how to utilise that during install if it's on a separate flash drive

do you have windows on this tablet? If so use rufus to put iso on usb
then you can copy any files needed to the same usb. https://rufus.ie/

oh ok! I have Rufus on another device I can use that to redo the live usb and then can I just copy files like the .deb firmware pkg directly into flash drive? will it automatically use that file during install?

it has been awhile since I've done it that way so not sure, may have mkdir and mount usb to it first.

If you're booting from a live usb install you can install the package from usb using "dpkg -i package_name"then do the install
