Maybe I can change the video device...I tried the DSL,mandriva,phalk disk and they work. I loaded debian connected to the old monitor, then unconnected the vga, connected it to the x163w and it worked
Something fishy.

Re-installed and edited the xorg.conf
Added Trident MicroSystems MicroBlade and Driver. And got error on line 39 of Monitor Section " HorizSync should be followed by numbers. And it is "30-80". It says to try again when it is configured right??????

went back to configured everything and added Mode @60Hz and it worked....
