Debian - launchers deleted when librxtx-java installed

I installed librxtx-java using apt-get.
I find now that a whole bunch of launchers I'd added to my applications menu have been deleted. What's more, if I try to add them, it won't let me I fill in the details for the application, but after I click OK nothing happens...
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about your problem but it helps to say which desktop environment you're using.
