debian kernel question

i am running debian with the kernel 2.6.8-2-686
i am a little bit confused. i just installed 2.6.8 and i dont understand how to upgrade any further. for example,

how do i get the 2.6.13 version of the kernel?
is it possible to get this through apt-get upgrade or apt-get install?

thanks.

This is my post number 200

Try downloading it from kernel.org. The 2.6.13 hasn't made it to the Debian package repository yet.

just a note if you debian is using udev
newer kernels require a newer udev version than 2.6.8 systems generally have

You need a "debian-kernel-patches" package installed for patching pristine sources from kernel.org on a debian system.

After you configure, and install the kernel patches:

make-kpkg --added-patches=debian --revision=somethingunique kernel_image

Open Synaptic and search for kernel. I am running 2.6.12.
