Debian Installation
Trying to install Debian Sarge on my spare parts computer.
New ECS 741GX-M mobo onboard lan/sound Old Duron 750mhz cpu New Rosewill 512mb ddr Old compaq 250w psu Old no-name DVD drive Not exactly sure what installation I'm doing. I don't have a cd burner so i did this over a friends house. did the business card cd in late june. So i boot off the CD, set everything up, partition the drive with the wizard for a desktop machine, I chose a few different mirrors at different points, and it gets to the installing the base system step. I have to rename the usr/lib/debootstrap/scripts/sarge to etch, but thats no problem. It'll get to 59% complete on the installing base packages and i get the red screen error. I did a tail on the messages file in var/log/ and see this.... not sure if this is the pertinent error, maybe someone can verify. Errors were encountered exim4-config exim4-base exim4-daemon-light at exim4 mailx umount: /target/dev/pts: Invalid argument umount: /target/dev/shm: Invalid argument umount: /target/proc/bus/usb: Invalid argument I tried slowing down the dram frequency and definitely not OCing the processor. Tried a few different mirrors. Can't think of any more info to include, will supply if needed. |
i think possibly you didn't make a swap partition and/or made root partition too small
try letting the installer partition the disk automajically |
