Debian Install works great but where is XF86Config file?
Just installed Debian 5.01 and the install went off without a hitch. But I'm a newbie trying to learn Linux and I'm trying to follow a book entitled Linux Unleashed (4th edition) and nothing seems to be where the book states it should be. For example - where is the XF86Config file. Also LILO is nowhere to be found (I did use GRUB to set up the dual boot (XP and Debian) install but I just want to familiarize myself with different boot loaders. Maybe I should just ditch this book and look for a better book to really learn what Linux is all about! Would appreciate any help or suggestions on how to learn as much as possible to become really familiar with Debian Linux.
Thank you, Stan Pasquale |

http://www.amazon.com/Linux-Bible-20.../dp/0470373679 I think I've seen this on torrents too - but that would be a breach of copyright. I got my start from the "for dummies" books - using the cds that come with and upgrading when I got proficient. http://www.amazon.com/Debian-Linux-D.../dp/0764507133 But you want anything very recent - say, published this year. |
