Question Debian boot installed on separate drive.

howdy I recently installed Debian for the first time using the net install, but now I found that I can't simply boot without the USB I used to install it with.

The USB in question includes these files, nothing is hidden.
ldlinux.sys
menu.c32
syslinux.cfg
ubninit
ubnkern

I can't remember what happened but is there a way to correct this without a reinstall? It took ages for me, but that was probably because of all of the encryptions.

Boot into Debian, then unplug the usb stick.

Open a terminal and su to root: enter the command su, the enter the root password.

Assuming you have only one disk, it's probably designated /dev/sda. As root, enter the command: grub-install /dev/sda

That will write the first stage of grub into the MBR of the drive along with the partition table.

Then reboot without the USB stick.
