Debian 3.1r1 installer stops while loading scsi drivers

Hey
I'm having trouble installing debian from a dvd on my 2800+
I have a 200gb sata disk.
When the installer gets up to loading drivers to mount the cdrom drive, it seems to stop for about 10 minutes while loading the ide driver and then freezes completely while loading the scsi driver.
I've done the install in expert mode but there doesn't seem to be the option of just not loading the scsi driver (I don't need it as I have a sata disk).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Seb

The SATA drive actually might be the issue. Try booting the install DVD with linux26 or expert26. If that doesn't work, try using the Etch installer. I think it has a 2.6.15 kernel, where Sarge only has a 2.6.8...
