Thumbs up DD and DUMP


Hi,

can anybody say the Difference between dd and dump? What i only know is they are used for backup. Please say the difference. It is not my assignment question by any chance.

On your system, find the 'dump' and 'dd' man page. Read the first paragraph. *Then* ask?

I would not normally use dd for backup. "dump" does not seem to be available for my system.
