dbus stack? jack audio / Qjackctl / bluetooth / XFCE / KDE 5.8?
Greetings Everyone,
I'm sorta a total newbie when it comes to linux. I had a fully functional workstation and then I followed a thread (not here I don't think) that said to disable / remove the pulse audio (driver?). Doing so TANKED the system. I suspect that the yum remove also removed the dbus files, causing the system to torpedo.
SO I was speaking with a friend of mine, and he said the sequence by which you install things is rather critical. Before I go further...the system...specs:
i5-2500 cpu
24GB Ram
2x 500GB SSD in Raid 1
GTX 760 (2GB) proprietary drivers installed - openGL 4.6
External sound card - Steinberg UR12 (USB)
USB - P105 (Yamaha) Digital Piano.
USB Bluetooth Dongle.
Linux Distro > Centos 7.7.1908
Kernel Version > 3.10.0-1062.4.3.el7.x86_64
Xfce Version > 4.12.1
I tried to build KDE 5.8 Plasma for centos, however the source file link == 404 (not found).
I also have a USB bluetooth dongle attached at the back.
SO I do web development and dabble with music making. I was able to get Rosegarden installed, however, I couldn't get the sound to work, which is why I was following the thread about pulseaudio - that tanked the system. There was a requirement for python34.dbus to be installed. But bluetooth also uses the dbus, as does x11/xorg (desktop - xfce).
So Now the GTX 760 drivers are installed.
DO I installed the BT (blueman / bluez) etc. first or do I go for jack, and how do I get jack and pulse audio to play nicely together? I'd like to get the usb digital piano into rosegarden, and have it output to the usb external audio card (UR12). I couldn't seem to get pulse audio to do this.
All this said, I maybe missing something simply or complicated. I have no way of knowing. SO if there's a proven tutorial for any of this - would appreciate being pointed in the right way.
Best Wishes,
-Scatterbrainz.
