Database Creation

I have installed Mysql in my linux box and I would like to know how to set this up right and also I like to know where do I go from here to create a database.

The Database that I am trying to make is one that I am going to put pictures in and have contact information.

Also one that I can use for inventory.

of Products.

Can anyone help me on this situation. I would greatly appreciate this. I like to make the system like an AS400 system.

I would recommend you phpMyAdmin.
With that you can administer mysql with browser.

For command line access to MySql :
open konsole:
type : "mysql -u root -p"
then type your password and you are in.

Short guide :
commands end with ; !

"show datadases;" list databases
"create database pictures;" makes a new database
"use pictures;" changes the database you want to access
"show tables;" shows you tables (there are none)
"create table picture (
name VARCHAR(64),
primary key (id)

For phpMyAdmin you will need Apache and PHP configured else you could also try and use MySQL Query Browser for which you wont need to install/configure Apache and PHP.

But with MySQL usually PHP and Apache are best suited for content management. If you decide for phpMyAdmin then you could also go through the following links which help with phpMyAdmin configuration:
