Damn Small Compact Flash Setup

I'm sorry if this post is in the wrong section and has been answered before, but I can't find a definitive answer.

I have a Wyse winterm with a 600mhz processor and 512mb of ram which currently runs WinXP Embedded. My plan is to scrap the WinXP installation and use DSL running from a Compact Flash card via a IDE-CF Adapter. I have found various posts on difference sites saying that a Frugal install suits this setup best.

I have very limited Linux knowledge and would like the advice from some experts on what is the best way to utilize this hardware.

Thanks very much.

PS. at present I have a 64MB CF card to play about with (I can get hold of something larger if needed).

Teckk, thanks for the response, but I was hoping for more than links to forums that were my first point of call.
