D-link 200 rev b1 adn slackware?

Hello my friends
I have d-link 200 rev b1 modem and slackware 10.2..
I install eciadsl driver, and bin file. when i write eciadsl-start i give this :

bash-3.00# eciadsl-start

Preliminary USB device filesystem is OK
Loading tun/tap module...
tun loaded successfully

[EciAdsl 2/5] Uploading firmware...

firmware loaded successfully

[EciAdsl 3/5] Synchronization...
OK eciadsl-synch: success
Synchronization successful

Connection successful

[EciAdsl 5/5] Setting up route table...
Waiting for tun0...
ERROR: couldn't set your static IP or your external gateway
If you don't use PPPoE, please check your configuration.

then i write this:

bash-3.00# pppoe -I tap0 -A
pppoe: ioctl(SIOCGIFHWADDR): Session 0: No such device

why this error ? and what i can make ? and why i have not adsl-start command?

I don't think you are using the pppoe correctly

first there appears a tun0 device and later you specify tap0, for this purpose I think only one of them is useful.

otoh I don't know much about usb modems, did you specify anything in some configfile for this modem.

Regards,

tlowk

I think you need to find out what makes it slow.

try with nslookup of host to do some dns lookups

eg

nslookup www.google.com
nslookup slashot.org
or
host freshmeat.net

and in case you think this is too slow you can try to rund a caching dns
(bind can do this and in many distribution it is preconfigured for this)

another thing you can try is to use
traceroute www.google.com
and with some other websites this way you see a possible slow
connection
