Cygwin & X
Ok I have searched everywhere I can find and I cannot seem to find this answer. I have just reinstalled Windows 2000 on my home machine (I ran it for 3 years, I was starting feel dirty) due to me upgrading from a GeForce 3 to a Radeon 9600. I put Cygwin on the machine as I used to be able to use the Cygwin X server for X forwarding.
For some reason I cannot start the X server within Cygwin anymore. I'm not sure if there are known issues with Cygwin X and my Radeon, however I'm curious to see how to fix it. I also searched around for log files, but because I'm not too familiar with Cygwin I have no idea where the log files would be if there are even any. Incidentally, X forwarding is on from the server. I use PuTTY to SSH in. And I have ALL of the Cygwin package installed. Any help trying to fiure out this one would be great! :) |
Incidentally, I did manage to fix the issue. Apparently when I installed Cygwin, I chose DOS instead of Unix at the beginning of the install. Once I wiped everything and reinstalled with Unix chosen, everything worked.
