CVS usage

I'm newbie to linux. I would like to learn CVS, but i'm facing some problems...

Plz if anyone can send me the cvs usage with an example i'm really greatful to them...

CVS is pretty obsolete now. You should read up on git or svn instead.

Tip for future reference, u r = You are or You're plz = please and thnx = thanks. Text speak is hard to read, and commands given, are usually the only shortened thing written in that fashion to avoid confusion among users. So if you could spell out your words, That would be most helpful.

As indicated by Tink, if you encounter problems/errors you need to be more descriptive in your posts and at least let us know what is it you don't understand. If you just want to learn CVS, although better to learn git, SVN, Mercurial as pointed out already, then follow the link above.

working with repositry
 

Hi..

I have created repository

export CVSROOT=/home/varun/cvs

then

cvs init

now i would like insert a proj into repository...

then making changes. creating versions etc...

plz help me...

That's easy! Follow the link I posted above, read one of the user guides listed there and apply what you've learned. When you have problems following a guide found online, that's when you turn to LQ for anwers. Nobody here is going to hold your hand if you don't want to put in some work first.

For our sanity,please could you confirm that you read us telling you that CVS is obsolete and that we generally recommend not learning cvs in the first place?

As Hevithan said, you need to SPELL OUT YOUR WORDS. Text-speak garbage is hard to read...and if you can't be bothered to write out a question, why should we be bothered to answer it??

And again, did you read the links/suggestions given to you? If you want help, you need to post answers to the questions people put to you.

I suggest installing SVN or going with Git, cvs knowledge is becoming obsolete
