Did you set curl to use the proxy?
From this site:https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...l-using-proxy/
looks like it needs to be told to use a proxy

no I did not setup curl to use proxy.
But when I check
env | grep proxy
i see the proper setting in environment variables. So I am thinking curl must be using them too.
