Cups printing Samsung CLP-315 on Raspberry Pi

Hello,

I'm trying to setup a print server on a Raspberry Pi - I successfully setup and print on a Samsung ML-2510, but when I try with a Samsung CLP-315 - the raspberry pi gets so busy it becomes unresponsive.

I do have a print driver for the CLP-315 setup and working on my Ubuntu system - doing as much comparing as I can between the two to see what is different.

The main difference of not is the Status. My working system says "Idle" but the raspberry pi says "idle - Sending data to printer."

Is this a clue? What else could I post to get help on fixing this? Thanks.

Have you checked the CUPS error log for any clues about what may be failing? The reporting verbosity can be increased for debugging purposes with
Code:
cupsctl --debug-logging
Then try sending a print job and examine /var/log/cups/error_log for errors or problems.

Solved

I discovered my problem - or lack of one. When I was testing CUPS, I was printing from the Raspberry Pi - this really loaded that little processor and caused it to act like it was frozen. While doing some other readying - a test print did eventually come out - something like 15 minutes. Then I tried printing from another linux machine and a windows machine - MUCH lower processor usage.

So, it is up and being used.
