Cups printer drivers Why no ink nozzle cleaning ?

In the windows drivers for some printers there is an ability to clean the ink nozzles.
Going by my Canon Printers I have this ability in windows. By selecting cleaning the nozzles are cleaned or deep cleaned depending on the printer.

I have 2 printers one is a Canon BJC 7100 the other is a Canon PIXMA MP800.

When I used a Cups printer diver in my linux Computer the driver did not have this feature.

Will this cleaning feature be added in other printer drivers for Linux,
foomatic or cups?

AFAIK there's only escputil for cleaning epson heads from gutenprint.
I didn't google around to see if it would support canons.

Requests or infos about planned features for Linux printer drivers should be addressed to the developers of the drivers directly. This will not only depend on the goodwill and the amount of spare time on part of the developers, but also on the amount of technical documentation that Canon makes available to third-party developers.
You should also check if Canon supports Linux directly, or if they at least support some outside developers with infos.
