Cups permissions
trying to hook up an epson c62 to my SuSE 8.2 desktop via a parallel port.
i tried using the YaST2 hardware installer that comes with SuSE, it recognizes the printer, suggests model specific drivers, but when I try to print a test page, the system either hangs or reboots. I then tried using instructions at linuxprinting org , but when I tried to access the cups server (localhost:631/admin) i cannot gain access. I restarted the cups server (/etc/init.d/cups) from the command line as a root user. I was then able to access the cups server, but only as root- not as the user i was logged in as. Even when logged in AS root, I can not print a test page without the system hanging or else rebooting. .. anyone have any ideas? thanks. |
any suggestions?
i'd rather not go through the effort if uninstalling cups if there's some other solution. |
