cups-pdf in OpenSuse 11.2 doesn't create pdf

Hello,

I have installed the cups-pdf package from the opensue 11.2 site and found an second printer in the config page od cups. I tried to print to this PDF called printer, but the cups-pdf printer doesn't create any files or user dirs in the default spool directory /var/spool/cups-pdf. CUPS respoces that jobs finished without errors. I have no idea what I made wrong.

Can anybody help?

Solution found: cups-pdf Program was in wrong directory

I have found the solution by myself and I leave it here for others which might get into the same situation.

The problem was:

The file cups-pdf was copied by the installer to /var/lib/cups/backend but it is expected at /usr/lib64/cups/backend

The solution:

Copy the file from /var/lib/cups/backend to /usr/lib64/cups/backend

After this operation a restart of the cups-System is required and the printer can be configured as mentions in severals docs you can found in the www.

I use a 64Bit installation. The file from the installer was also 64Bit ELF binary.

To check if it is available use lpinfo -v:

Code:
# lpinfo -v
network socket
network beh
file cups-pdf:/
direct pipe
direct hal
direct hpfax
direct hp
network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct scsi
network smb

The one time that I used the CUPS PDF printer it created a directory $HOME/PDF and put the pdf file in there.
