Cups, not having to manually start printers
I am trying to set up cups (fedora core 6) so that I don't have to manually start the printer every time I reboot.
I looked on the cups web page, and the closest thing I could find was to install the back-end handler (beh), which is running, according to lpinfo -v. But, this didn't do the trick. Is there any way to start a printer (also using HPLIP, etc, and the printer/scanner/etc does work) without having to go to my cups webpage, and re-starting the printer as root? Thanks for any help. |
there are 2 ways for me but as you have a bookmark for cups...go into and look at each printer in turn.....you will see a range of buttons including
set allowed users follow the prompts to add each local user 2) in Mandriva there is also a printer control panel in KDE click on the printer and see who are the allowed users....to change click on Admin button bottom left and passwd and away you go |

Or, probably use KDE just to set it up, but for some reason, I have a problem with KDE (mostly media manager) that I haven't looked into yet. |
