CUPS-Foomatic-gimp-print problem

I am attempting to use CUPS-Foomatic-gimp-print
(which is recommended for my Lexmark Z42) but have
never succeeded in printing ANYTHING.
I have now successfully installed Foomatic v 2.9
into CUPS and am trying to add the gimp-print v. 4.2.7
./configure --with-cups --without-translated-ppds
(I have omitted ' --without-gimp' because, although it is
part of my Redhat package, I have never installed it.)

'make' throws up Error 25: No Foomatic printer IDs
for gimp-print printer'.
How do I point MAKE to the whereabouts of the printer IDs?
