There's a strong chance that you can't use the fax at all, even for faxes.

Quite likely that you have a "winmodem" which uses Windows software to send faxes on a cut-down (cheap) modem.

That's not a problem in itself, you just need to ensure that the printer is connected to your wireless network. Then, it should be visible to CUPS as a network printer.
