CUPS can't connect

Hey, I have a problem with attempting to configure my Canon Printer using CUPS on Slackware 10.0

I ran http://localhost:631/ and it comes up with a CUPS error saying it's server or something cannot be found...? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

whoops... ok, I ran cupsd as root and that allowed me to go and add my printer by localhost:631/ problem now is this -- I can't find my Printer (Canon i850) model... I selected the USB device it uses and the Make of it... but all the models listed doesn't have any 'i' series printers?

What should I pick??

Also, how do I have cupsd load everytime? Do I even need to have it loaded everytime or unless I want to add another printer?

Thanks :)

<EDIT>
I got my printer working... the driver CUPS suggested was the BJC7000 series @ 600x600dpi and voila it does work!!!

YAY, a problem solved by ye myself -- maybe this post will help someone who had the same problem I had.

cupsd need to run for you to be able to print, not just add printers. once the daemon is started and the printer is configured cupsd should start at boot.
good luck.

<edit> about 1/2 a day late, and 1/2$ short, glad you got it sorted :) </edit>
