CrunchBang on external HDD
Hey guys, first post here.
First of all, I don't have a CD burner, therefore I have to install #! through my USB stick. Secondly, I want to install it on my external USB HDD (on a 20GB partition). When I run #! from the USBstick, everything seems to run fine. I start the installer, get through the lang/loc screens, I tell it to let me choose the disk/partition where it will install, and when the partitioner comes up, either it freezes and I have to kill it, or it works but only shows me the internal drives. Is there any way I can get it to work? I think the USB thing might be the problem, but I have updated my BIOS recently, so I don't think that it's causing all this (wXP is working just fine with it). When gparted loads, if it doesn't freeze...click the "gparted" button up top and select "devices", and it should have a selection for any external devices. Did you do this?
Also, I assume your talking about CrunchBang? or Crunchbox firewall? Please give your full system specs too. |
Yes I am talking about Crunchbang. Sorry for that, my bad :/
It's my 5th time trying to switch from windows to linux and I heard it's pretty good to learn the basics etc. My specs: Mobo: ASRock ConRoe1333-D667 CPU: PDC e2160 @ 2.4Ghz RAM: 1GB DDR2 Kingston GFX: nVIDIA GF 7900gs Internal HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 80GB Internal HDD2: ExcelStor J880 80GB External drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (partitioned [in GBs] 19, 60, 200, 220, 430 - I somehow lost a couple of gigs). I am making the USB stick to a live #! with the unetbootin app. PS. Umm how do I change the thread title, or could a mod please do it? Thanks and sorry. |
