Crouton xubuntu - software center error
Hi all,
I have a tosh chromebook2: I've croutoned it, installing ubuntu with xfce.
I have "sudo apt-got" *update, *upgrade. I have also "apt-get install sotfware-center".
I find that, when trying to install anything from Software center, I get ...
Software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available. org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.Error.Failed: ('system-bus-name', {'name': ':1.104'}): org.debian.apt.install-or-remove-packages
I believe I have tracked it down to policykit agent not running ( well i couldnt see it when i ran a ps -fe). I noticed that it is ticked in "startup/sessions " from within settings. I read somewhere that it's supposed to be policykit-1-gnome. I tried to install this but it's already installed.
Just in case there are two policy kits, i added an app-start in Session/startup and ticked it.
I did a shutdown/restart of xubuntu (did not shut down whole laptop), did not make any difference.
I decided to try running the policykit-gnome from terminal in background ( put a '&' after the statement) but was notified of a warning: "Unable to determine the session we are in: no session for pid xxxx",
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
