I'm using Fedora Core 4...

Then, I'm running a cron to start my backup postgresql database script. However, it does not start sometimes...

Can please suggest any method to determine the problem?

Does the script work ALWAYS from the command-prompt? Are
you saving the output from the script anywhere?

Post the script if you're not sure how - I'm sure someone
can aid you in this...

And what does the crontab-entry look like?

Here's my crontab

# run-parts
01 * * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.hourly
02 4 * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.daily
22 4 * * 0 root run-parts /etc/cron.weekly
42 4 1 * * root run-parts /etc/cron.monthly

I using the crontab above to run the script daily. My script is put in /etc/cron.daily/

OK - so back to the script :}

nice -n 19 su - postgres -c "/usr/bin/time $CLUSTERDB -a -e"
nice -n 19 su - postgres -c "/usr/bin/time $VACUUMDB -a -e -f -z"
nice -n 19 su - postgres -c "/usr/bin/time $BACKUPSCR"
nice -n 19 /usr/bin/time "$OPTIMIZER"

Here's my script in my cron.daily. The script is working but sometimes the cron does not want to start.
