Creating vm outsider for RHCSA study guide Michael Jang

Hi All,

I am doing some study for the RHCSA exam and having alot of trouble when I try to create a vm with kickstart and the VM is on a different network
One of the exmaples I am trying is from Michael Yangs study guide on pg 93

I noted they are errors in the ip specified in the book and downloaded his corrections
The command I am using is
virt-install -n outsider.example.com -r 768 --disk path=/var/lib/libvirt/images/outsider.example.com.img,size=12 -l ftp://192.168.100.1/pub/inst/ -x "ks=ftp://192.168.100.1/pub/ks_exam3.cfg"

When I try to run I get the above
ERROR [Errno 111] Connection refused

My ftpserver is at the following ip 192.168.122.82

I would really appreciate if someone can point in my direction how understand/debug how to solve this.
I am able to craete vms with this setup with the following command without a problem
virt-install -n outsider.example.com -r 768 --disk path=/var/lib/libvirt/images/outsider.example.com.img,size=12 -l ftp://192.168.122.82/pub/inst/ -x "ks=ftp://192.168.122.82/pub/ks_exam3.cfg

In the first example, you'rte trying to connect to a FTP server at 192.168.100.1. Do you actually have an FTP server listening on that IP address. Based on what you said, when you connect to a known good FTP server, everything works fine, so the probable source of your problem is either (a) your network is not set up correctly to route packets to 192.168.100.1 or (b) there is no FTP server at that address.
