Creating Virtual Hosts

Hi all,

I'm trying to create two virtual hosts on the same computer with different Ethernet and IP addresses, and then I will try to send a packet from one to the other. I tried ifconfig and I'm able to create virtual host (eth0:1) for an Ethernet device (eth0), but I can't change the Ethernet address for the virtual host without changing all the Ethernet addresses associated with the device (eth0). Is there any way to assign arbitrary HWaddr to the virtual hosts? Or am I using a completely wrong way to simulate my hosts? Thanks.

Hosts for what? Web server?
You don't need separate IPs for each host, just an entry of that hostname in the DNS record, so it will point to the correct IP and an entry in the webserver software(apache?).
