Creating new VM using a vdi file of a clone

Somebody please help me out here... I am trying to run a cloned VM on oracle VBox and when it comes to the point of selecting the host drive (and I select the vdi file)I get this message.

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
IMedium {29989373-b111-4654-8493-2e1176cba890}
IVirtualBox {3b2f08eb-b810-4715-bee0-bb06b9880ad2}
Callee RC:

what am I supposed to do ???

Hopefully someone here can help but just throwing this out there that a better resource to ask this question is probably the virtualbox community if you haven't already posted there as well.
