Question Creating a link to a network resource.

I am trying to find one of our hidden network resources. I try creating a link to it on the desktop but it is not working. I was able to create one for our ftp but I can't get to a hidden folder. What should the command line be in Linux? In Windows it is \\srvname\foldername$. I need the Linux equivalent. Thanks so much for the help.

Is it a netrwork directory via samba or nfs?

The share must be mounted, then you can make any link you want.
