I've installed RH8.0 on my computer (dual booting with win 98) but have managed to get myself into a twist since w98 has gone AWOL (yes I know it's a pile of rubbish ).

I still need to reinstall it on there as there's lots of files created under ProCite which will not function under Linux ..

So reinstalling windows deletes my MBR (right?) which means I lose access to linux -foolishly I didn't create a bootdisk when installing RH - can I make a new one now? If not what other options do I have? can I put Grub onto a disk (I've tried one howto but it didn't work)

You can make a bootdisk now. Use 'mkbootdisk' command (mkbootdisk yourkernelversion). But you can also use 1st installation cd (in "rescue" mode). If you have one of them, reinstall Windows then boot Linux (from floppy it's easier - you just boot, from the cd you need to use 'chroot' to change your / location) and use grub-install to install GRUB again in your MBR.

I got it working though there wasnt'a mkbootdisk command installed on my system - but the CD boot worked great...
