Create USB image with DD
I have been trying to create an image using the command:
sudo dd bs=4M if=(name).iso of=/dev/sdb
All the tutorial I have read stress the fact tat the USB device should NOT be mounted.
But if I try the command with the USB device unmounted, I get:
dd: failed to open ‘/dev/sdb’: No medium found
So what is the proper procedure?

What method do you use to unmount the device?

Issue the umount from the terminal, not the GUI disk manager. On Fedora (gnome), the device node gets destroyed by the GUI - go figure.
