Create an FTP user

Hi all,

My server:

Linux Centos 5.x

I have inherited a system some time age but yesterday I had to rebuild the server which all went withour error. Prior to the rebuild I backed up the server but for whatever reason when I came to restore the only user FTP account on the server was not restored. So I now need to reinstate it manually.

The information I do have concerning the account is, I know the clients username and password and the directory to which they had access.

the path to the directory was:

/var/www/vhosts/domain_name/hal

What I now need is how to reinstate access to that directory.

Can anyone please try and help me.

Best regards,

Dereck

Have you backed up the Proftpd configuration file? also how many users you have to restore?

You can manually create the FTP user account easily if user accounts are less..

Hi pnmanojshenoy,

Thanks for your reply,

The former technical guy who ran the server did not backup system files only data, thats why he is no longer here.

There is just one user to recreate.

Cheers,

Dereck
