The fact is that CRCN works with limited results if a later version than ns-2.31 is used.
( The same is valid for crahn-ns2.)
The other limitation is that you can build CRCN with CentOS 6.x i386 only.

An old 32bits Ubuntu package is available : crcn-ns-2.31-ubuntu10_i386.deb

Provides /usr/local/bin/ns-crcn .. and works fairly OK with a contemporary 32bits Ubuntu OS.
Note:
You can have as many ns-allinone.2.xx as you want installed at the same time.
But : Do never add any *PATH text to .bashrc . Not required.
