crc error, stablin compressing ,can't install redhat
Hi, I am a new linux user and I had been using mandrake for about a weeks now and I decided to change to red hat because most of all the software I see are i386 compatibale and seem that red hat is more easier for a newbie.Well I had been trying to install red hat for about 2 days now.I had two hd and I am installing red hat to secondary hd.whenever I try to install RH9 ,I got this error that 'invalide compressing error ,crc and something like stablin etc........ something but When I check my all of my CDs they all pass the test and it said it good to install .Then when I install,in the middle of the installing it abord itself and said that there is something wrong in media such as CD and hardware failer. But the place where it's show the errors is not the same ,so I guess that it's a CD ROM error and I try to install it with my sister 's
CD ROM but same old thing. So I try to install it using the primary HD but same old thing again .All the hardware I have are compatiable with the RH9 .I already check it out. Then when I try the cds and installing in my sister computer ,there is no error .Can someone plese tell me why 'crc' error occurs in my pc but not in my sis.and what can I do ? My first suspect is bad memory.

The links help me a lot ,thanks! but I still didn't have enought time to test them ,But as you have said I think the problem lie in BIOS and in memory .If I couln't find the problem but I was thinking of taking out my secondary harddisk and install it from my sister computer and reconnect it in this one.I don't know what seem to be problem but with mandrake 9.1 it working just fine. The memory test was getting too long and I didn't have enought time to seem goes throught so if there is error in memory ,can you tell how can I fix it ? But all of my Hardware are compatable with red hat .I'll try it again in monday .
Thanks. |
