Crazy KDE Resolution Problem
Im currently trying out SuSE 9.1, and by default the resolution is set to 600x480, which is way too small for my liking. I tried to change it to 1024x768, but that just results in a horrible mess. Ill try to explain it the best I can. It looks as if my monitor was shifted a quarter of the screen to the right, and everything that was on the right side that got shifted off moved to the left, as if it wraps around. I was hoping someone could maybe help me fix this problem, because the monitor in this state really isnt very usable. Thanks.

I had this exact problem when I first installed it. You need to run the desktop config. I am not sure what its called or where it is located, but it should ask you on startup. Run it and change the resolution within that program. After you set it, you have to restart X (or your computer).
That fixed it for me!
good luck.

Open a console and run sax2
Check if sax has the proper video card. Select a proper monitor type.
Then change resolution.
