crash when close a window

I am using CentOS5.2 (gnome 2.16), when I logon as root to setup a service, when I close the window, I lose all controls - no mouse, no keyboard. I try to reset the machine, but the problem repeart everytime when I close the window (not just to the services setting window but also to some others window)

I have no idea why this happens to you, but generally it's not considered a good idea to logon as root. Try running whatever you're trying to run with gksu ("gksu appname"), or even open a terminal and use "su" to login as root inside the terminal. See if the crash happens there too.
