CPU permanently 100% usage

I have the GNOME system monitor open and I can see the CPU usage is at 100% constantly, but there are no processes in the list that are using or sum to 100%. I've had this problem since I installed linux I think. Is there any more comprehensive view of running processes so I can trace whats going on?

Cheers,

Try running "top" in a terminal. It should default to sorting by cpu usage but pressing "P" will resort it.

OK, cheers for that. I found the offending program, although I have no idea why all the processor was being used. Most of it was used by "iowait", what is this? and why does it eat cpu usage?

Cheers,
